WingleWare Case Studies

🔧 The Project

Client: The U.S. Army Reserve

The U.S. Army Reserve launched a strategic initiative to connect building-level control systems across its portfolio to a centralized server. This was to enable global analytics and leverage advanced building controls across its facilities. As part of the initial pilot phase, four Maryland sites—totaling 10 buildings—were selected.

WingleWare, a subcontractor to Drew Investment Group (DIG), was tasked with identifying local facility needs and delivering a fully integrated controls upgrade. Responsibilities included:

  • Site assessments.
  • Installation of communicating thermostats and DDC controllers.
  • JACE integration and connectivity to the Army’s network.
  • Modernization of building logic.

🧪 The Solution

Client: The U.S. Army Reserve
✅ Site Readiness & Controls Strategy

WingleWare began with a Site Readiness Assessment at all four locations. Findings led to a detailed plan that focused on:

  • Necessary repairs and upgrades.
  • Selection of communication infrastructure.
  • Reprogramming building logic for improved humidity and temperature control.
🏗️ Improved Controls System
  • Replaced outdated thermostats with communicating thermostats.
  • Installed new DDC controllers and JACE 9000s.
  • Phased out legacy systems (e.g., Trane BCU).
  • Deployed new CAT6 drops to connect with the Army network.
  • Added relays and enclosures as needed.
⚙️ Upgraded Performance
  • Implemented Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) and Optimum Start/Stop (OSS).
  • Deployed humidity and zone temperature sensors.
  • Enhanced humidity control and alarming logic.
  • Enabled Reflow-integrated scheduling and alarm management.
  • Integrated utility meters (electric, gas, water) for performance metrics.
👁️ Improved Visibility & Remote Management
  • Installed Niagara Mods Reflow Site module for graphical system monitoring.
  • Developed 3D floorplans, zone layouts, and equipment graphics.
  • Enabled data trending, analytics, and tagging.
  • Installed local panel-mounted HMIs.
  • Delivered full as-built documentation, including network diagrams, point lists, and sequences.

📊 The Impact
